EASTON, Kan. — In what has already been a season of firsts for the Central Heights wrestling team, JD Johnson and David Green added to it Saturday. Johnson won the first tournament of his high school career, winning all three of his matches at 152 pounds at the Pleasant Ridge tournament. “He wrestled well, eliminating some issues that had plagued him so far this year,” Central Heights coach Randy Hinderliter said. “JD can be an explosive athlete, but wrestles much better when he uses all of his skills. When JD decided to use his quickness, he was fantastic.” Green, a sophomore, placed third at 285 pounds. It was the first time he has placed at a tournament. “Like JD, David corrected his technique and wrestled much better this week,” Hinderliter said. Chad Platt won one of four matches at 160 pounds. Justin Ennis went 0-5 at 125 pounds. Ennis won the first match of his high school career on Dec. 6. Central Heights returns to the mat Jan. 10 at Burlington.
