The following is some recent general purpose reports recorded by Miami County Sheriff’s Office deputies as they patrol the county. At 11:30 p.m. Jan. 24, a sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to the area of Victory Road and 223rd Street after someone reported they were being followed by a vehicle occupied by juveniles, who were pointing a laser light at him while he was driving. The deputy could not find the vehicle. At 6:36 p.m. Jan. 26, a sheriff’s deputy was notified that a black Labrador Retriever had been seen for the past five days laying in a tall patch of grass northeast of 391st Street and Lone Elm Road. The deputy located the dog, which was friendly and obedient. The dog had no collar or other way to help identify it. The deputy took the dog to the Osawatomie pound. At 6:29 a.m. Jan. 27, a sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to 25650 Mission Belleview Road in response to a horse being shot. Robert Roush said he believed somebody shot one of his horses on Jan. 26. The deputy observed a straight line mark on the horse that was consistent with a grazed bullet. Roush wanted to report the incident in case there are future problems. At 2:15 a.m. Feb. 1, a sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to 343rd Street and Oak Grove Road in response to a report of a cow being in the road. The deputy found the cow and put it in a pasture on the northwest corner of the intersection. At 10:35 a.m. Feb. 1, a sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to 36819 W. 351st St. after a caller complained about the condition of the horses on the property. The owner showed the deputies his two horses, which had shelter and access to water from a pond and from within the shelter. There also was hay for the horses, and the owner said they get grain every day. The owner did say the male horse had an infection on its penis, but it has been seen by a veterinarian and is being treated.
