The following are some recent general purpose reports recorded by Miami County Sheriff’s Office deputies as they patrol the county.

On Feb. 9, an off-duty sheriff’s deputy was contacted by a homeowner, who said someone hung the head of a decapitated pig on one of his trees at 213 S. East St. in Fontana. The homeowner said he didn’t know of anyone who was upset with him. The sheriff’s deputy filed a report on the incident the next day when he returned to his next shift.

At 4:44 p.m. Feb. 9, a sheriff’s deputy talked with someone over the phone who said that he lost his wallet earlier that day sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. He said it likely was lost at Debrick Truck Line Co., where he was filling out an employment application, or at a bank in Ottawa.

At 3:15 a.m. Feb. 10, a sheriff’s deputy responded to 255th Street and Mission Belleview Road after someone reported a group of horses were out. The deputy located about 10 horses, which were put into a pasture on the east side of Mission Belleview Road south of 255th Street.

At 10:08 p.m. Feb. 11, a sheriff’s deputy responded to an area near 263rd Street and Waverly Road after someone reported spotting an injured deer in the road. The deputy found the deer, which could not move its hind legs and appeared to have been struck by a vehicle. The deputy used his handgun to put the deer down and then removed it from the road.

At 6:52 p.m. Feb. 12, a sheriff’s deputy responded to an area near 303rd Street and Metcalf Road after someone reported that livestock was out. The deputy found six llamas in a yard at 7935 W. 303rd St. The deputy opened a gate behind the house and ran the llamas into the pasture.
