Robert Randolph Jespersen Jr., 48, Osawatomie, died June 8, 2009, in Shawnee.

He was the first of two children born to Robert R. Sr. and Shirley Anne Dubber Jespersen. He was born Dec. 24, 1960, in Jacksonville, N.C. He graduated from Galveston (Texas) High School with the class of 1978. He attended the University of Houston from 1978 until 1980.

He served his country with the U. S. Army. He entered the military in 1980 in Little Rock, Ark., and was honorably discharged in 1983 at Fort Benning, Ga.
After his honorable military discharge, he continued his education at the University of Arkansas. He earned his registered nurse’s degree from the University of Arkansas Medical School. He earned his master’s degree from the University of Missouri, Kansas City.
In 1992, he became a certified registered nurses anesthetist. He was working at the Doctor’s Specialty Hospital in Overland Park. He had also worked at the Osawatomie State Hospital for a short time as a registered nurse and also was a registered nurse in Little Rock and Kansas City.

He was married to Tamara Johnson on Jan. 1, 1999, in Las Vegas, Nev. They became the parents of three sons. Their marriage ended in divorce.

He was married to Carol Patterson on Dec. 31, 2007. They made their home in Osawatomie.

He was a very spiritual man, who prayed daily and enjoyed spiritual readings with his wife. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and pets.

Survivors include his wife, Carol of the home; three sons, Gabriel, Joseph and Samuel of Marysville, Kan.; his parents, Robert Sr. and Shirley Jesperson of Little Rock; two step-sons, Adam Kleitz of Kansas City, Mo., and Zac Kleitz of Osawatomie; one step-daughter, Kaylee Hurt of Osawatomie; and a brother, Craig Jespersen of West Des Moines, Iowa.

Military honors will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home, 203 Main St., Osawatomie, KS 66064, (913) 755-2114, with visitation following.

Memorials are to the Robert R. Jespersen Jr. Memorial Fund.
