Forty-nine babies and their proud parents packed Osawatomie High School’s auditorium for the annual John Brown Jamboree baby contest Saturday. Aubree Anne Bergman was crowned the overall winner. She is the daughter of Crystal and Jimmy Bergman of Osawatomie. The following is a list of the top three winners in each age category. 1 to 4 months 1. Madelyn Dysart, parents David and Tabitha Dysart of Paola; 2. Bryce Casida, mother Deidra Casida; 3. Gwen Christine Deason, parents Chris Deason and Colleen McKinney of Osawatomie. 5 to 8 months 1. Elijah Schack, parents Adam and Patricia Schack of Osawatomie; 2. Bentley Stewart, parents Robin Allen and Jimmy Stewart, Osawatomie; 3. Xavion Hurst, parents Antonio and Letisha Hurst of Osawatomie. 9 to 12 months 1. Layla Poage, parents Heather Poage and Mark Hahn of Osawatomie; 2. Keldyn Cox, parents Dana Dorsey and Casey Cox of Edgerton; 3. Ashlyn Katzer, parent Renee Katzer of Paola. 13 to 18 months 1. Danica Brake, parents Denny and Sarah Brake of Fontana; 2. Kiana Renee Howard, parents Eric and Deanna Howard of Spring Hill; 3. Izabella Douglass, parents Brooke and Cole Douglass of Paola. 19 to 24 months 1. Aubree Anne Bergman, parents Crystal and Jimmy Bergman of Osawatomie; 2. Landon Smith, parents Logan and Mackenzie Smith of Paola; 3. Hope Damron, parents Brooks and Molly Damron of Osawatomie. The Sub-Debs club sponsored the contest and coinciding bake sale. Organizer Debbie Lucas said money raised from the $2 entry fee for the baby contest was divided equally between the Osawatomie food pantry and the Jamboree fund to help defray the costs of providing ribbons and other materials for the annual celebration. “I thought the baby contest and bake sale went great,” Lucas said.
