Jim McDonnell of La Cygne, sitting astride Tyrees Pojo, a 1990 American quarter horse gelding, finished in the top-10 in select tie-down roping at the Bayer Select World Championship Show, held Aug. 31 through Sept. 6 in Amarillo, Texas. “Qualifying and competing in the Bayer Select World Championship Show is a great honor,” said Don Treadway Jr., American Quarter Horse Association executive vice president. The event is by invitation specifically for amateur exhibitors age 50 and older. To qualify, exhibitors, along with their horses, must have earned a certain number of points in American Quarter Horse Association approved shows between June 1, 2008 and May 31. This was the seventh year for the show. For more on the championship show go to AQHA.com.
