It may just be one win, but for the Pleasanton volleyball team, it was a lot better than its 14 previous matches.

The Blu-Jays snapped a 14-game losing streak with a 3-1 victory over Bronaugh, Mo., in a best-of-five match Sept. 15 in Pleasanton. The Blu-Jays took the first two games 25-15, 25-13, before falling in the third 25-17. They sealed the win with a 25-16 victory in the fourth to give Pleasanton its first win of the season.

“We continue to improve with every match,” coach Danny Looney said. “Our freshmen and sophomores are starting to come around and contribute in a positive way.”

In the match, Megan Lowe led Pleasanton with nine kills, and Kim Robinson finished with eight. To go along with her nine kills, Lowe led the Blu-Jays with 15 digs and two aces.
Johnnea Saulsberry had seven digs and two aces in the victory, while Brytnee Streeter finished with four kills.

Ellis competes at Drexel

Dylan Ellis was the lone runner for the Pleasanton cross-country team at the Drexel (Mo.) Invitational, but he came away with a strong performance.
Ellis finished 10th overall in the junior varsity race in 21 minutes, 32 seconds.
