1920-2009 Dale Delton Lemon, 88, Parker, died Oct. 2, 2009, at Life Care Center in Osawatomie.  He was born Oct. 19, 2009, on a farm east of Parker and was the middle son of Delton and LeOna Shinkle Lemon. He graduated from Parker Rural High School in 1938. He attended the University of Kansas where he completed both his bachelor of science and master of science degrees. He also attended Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y. He served three years in the United States Navy and retired as lieutenant junior grade in 1946. He married Mildred Teagarden on June 16, 1945, in Ithaca. They became the parents of three sons. He began his teaching career in Lawrence, Kan., in 1946. He spent the next 33 years as a school administrator for Lincolnville, Parker, Turon, Claflin and Garnett school districts. He retired from Garnett school district in 1979. After retirement, he worked as a Farmer’s Insurance agent and lived, farmed and raised cattle on his Grandfather Shinkle’s farm for the past 50 years. He was a member of the Paola United Methodist Church, Parker Masonic Lodge for 65 years, Parker Eastern Star and a former member of the Osawatomie Frontier Twirlers Square Dance Club. He spent all of his life very involved with church, music and education. He was preceded in death by one brother, Raymond Lemon of Parker. His survivors include his wife, Mildred of the home; three sons, Gary Lemon of Greencastle, Ind., Larry Lemon of Conway, Ark., and Ray Lemon of Paola; one brother, Charles Lemon of Portland, Ore.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Services were Monday followed by burial at the Cadmus Cemetery in Fontana. Memorials are to the American Heart Association.
