Betty Louise Morris Cikanek, 74, Peculiar, Mo., formerly of Pleasanton, died Sept. 30, 2009, at the Rehabilitative Center of Raymore, Mo. Services were Saturday at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, 816 Main St., Pleasanton, KS 66075, (913) 352-6101. Contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Foundation. Interment will be in the Trading Post Cemetery, Pleasanton. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.coffelschneider.com. Gary Wayne Franklin, 68, Gardner, Kan., formerly of Hume, Mo., died Oct. 2, 2009, at Meadowbrook Hospital, Gardner. Services were Tuesday followed by burial in the Fort Scott National Cemetery. Arrangements were by the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, Hume, Mo., (660) 643-7531. Memorials are suggested to his grandchildren’s education fund. Joan Nave, 79, Linn Valley, died Oct. 1, 2009, at Paola. She is survived by her husband, Richard of the home; her mother, Myrtle Hatch of Raytown, Mo.; two daughters, Teri Dzula of Independence, Mo., and Nanci Myers of Dillsburg, Pa.; one brother, Harold Hatch of Kansas City, Mo.; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home, 202 N. Fourth St., La Cygne, KS 66040, (913) 757-2035. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until service time. Memorials may go to North Point Care Facility, c/o Coffel-Schneider, P.O. Box 304, La Cygne, KS 66040. Alfred (Al) William Nichols, 84, Prescott, died Oct. 1, 2009, at Prescott Country View Nursing Home. Services were Monday. Arrangements were by the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, 816 Main St., Pleasanton, KS 66075, (913) 352-6101. Burial was in the Pleasanton Cemetery.
