1936-2009 Barbara Jean Bruner, 73, Owasso, Okla., died Oct. 8, 2009, at the Sequoyah Pointe Nursing Center. She was born Feb. 9, 1936, at Paola to Damon and Betty Moody Spencer. She was raised and received her education in Paola. Following high school she attended Pittsburg State University. On Aug. 25, 1957, she was united in marriage to Donald Bruner at Paola. They became the parents of two children. They made their home in Moran, Kan., before eventually establishing a home in Bartlesville where she lived until moving to Owasso two years ago. She worked in customer service in the banking industry for many years. In her spare time she enjoyed playing the piano and was an excellent bridge player. She preferred the Methodist faith. She is survived by her children, Melissa Bruner of Stillwater, Okla., and Scott Bruner of Owasso; one sister, Frances Winterscheid of Paola; and four grandchildren. Graveside services were Sunday at the Paola Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 305 N. Pearl St., Paola, KS 66071, (913) 294-2372.
