LA CYGNE — Using a device normally employed for finding victims in a fire, the La Cygne police and fire departments quickly found a missing man early Sunday morning. La Cygne Police Chief James Dean said he received a call from an officer requesting assistance in checking a suspicious vehicle near the cemetery at First and Swan streets at about 3:25 a.m. Shortly after that, officials received a report about a 40-year-old man who walked away from a party and into a wooded area. After unsuccessfully searching the area, Dean called Fire Chief Dan Nasalroad to assist with the hand-held infrared device. The man was found around 5 a.m., uninjured, on the railroad tracks, and apparently intoxicated and disoriented. Officer Will Dean took a report from the man and escorted him home. Chief Dean said a train came through about 10 minutes after they found the man.
