SILVER LAKE — The Osawatomie Middle School wrestling team took to the mat for the final time this season Saturday at one of the state’s largest middle school tournaments, the Silver Lake Invitational. And the Trojans enjoyed quite a bit of success, with 12 wrestlers placing in the top four of their respective weight classes.

Tanner Foulk didn’t lose a match all day as he went on to claim the 190-pound title. Kelly Harmon (95 pounds), Landon Walker (110) and John Tate (115) all placed second. Dustin Botwinik (127), Jordan McGowen (265), Brandon Guilfoyle (90), Seth Hampton (75), Jesse Grippando (90) and Devin Wilson (110) struck for bronze. Andy Blanton (100) and Justin Lewis (100) both placed fourth.
Osawatomie placed ninth out of 14 teams.

PAOLA DUALS
Osawatomie took 22 wrestlers to Paola on Nov. 9 to compete in a four-team dual with Paola, Louisburg and Jayhawk-Linn, and the Trojans enjoyed their fair share of success.
Wilson won all three matches, opening with a 7-5 decision, before closing out his efforts with an 8-2 decision and a pin. Nick Lewis and Tyler Williams both won matches.
Guilfoyle, Blanton, Josh Dennis, Dakota Henson, Mike Miller, Hunter Poage, Jesse Grippando and Devin Degraeve also won matches for the Trojans. Botwinik, Hampton, Harmon, McGowen, Austin Harper, Sam Raybern, Lake Cuerden, Bailey Van Vleck, Jasten Bechtel, Gastaun Castel and Tyler Ricken also took to the mat for Osawatomie.
