BUTLER, Mo. — Taking to the mat for the final time this season, the Prairie View Middle School wrestling team put a capper on what was a strong season.
Prairie View competed in a Nov. 17 road triangular against Butler and Adrian. And more times than not the Buffalos left the mat with success, going a combined 24-23. Cody Kral, Christian Dominguez, Adam Moore, Johnny Schmidt, Zack McCoach, Dannon Brake and Cordell Dunlop, each won both of their matches.

Prairie View posted some gaudy results over the past month. Thirty-three wrestlers took to the mat for the Buffalos. Most times than not, the Buffalos left the mat with success, sporting a combined 258-159 record.

Individual success was found across the board for Prairie View. Dunlop, Kral, McCoach, Brake, Schmidt, Austin Bland, Shawn Ackerson, William Holland, Dylan Rice, Chaz Epperson, Kaleb Konitzer, Austin Gulotta and Cody Michelle each finished with at least 10 wins, compared to single-digit losses. Several other Buffalos were close to reaching that mark.

Prairie View found itself in the mix of two tournaments, winning the Pioneer League Middle School tournament team title and placing second out of 14 teams at a loaded Silver Lake tournament.
Clearly, these Buffalos have a promising future at the high-school level.

SILVER AT SILVER LAKE

Prairie View traveled to Silver Lake on Nov. 14 to compete in a loaded 14-team tournament. And the Buffalos came back with overwhelming success, registering 20 top-four individual finishes as well as a second-place team finish. Only host Silver Lake (181 points) finished ahead of Prairie View (168) in the team standings.

Holland (100), Schmidt (110 B), Ackerson (95) and Tyler Snipes (80 pounds) all won their respective weight classes. Kral (75), Epperson (85), Dominguez (85), Konitzer (105), Brake (115), Dunlop (120), Gulotta (127) and Jordan Fulks (110) all placed second. Bland (75 B), McCoach (105), Spencer Ingram (110 B), Michelle (134), Jason McCorkendale (95) and Ted Chambers (148 B) all placed third. Tristan Miller (127 B) and Dakota Tinker (265) both placed fourth.
