MOUND CITY — The Linn County Commission on Monday heard a report from Sheriff Barry Walker that his department is running out of space to store seized vehicles.

There currently are five vehicles in the yard at the Sheriff’s Office, plus several at the landfill and in storage, Walker said. One pickup is costing the county $15 a day for storage, and that is eating up any potential profit from its seizure, the sheriff said.

Walker said he was looking for a place to store the vehicles, and he estimated that, at any given time, his agency has three to 10 vehicles to store. He said he will study potential solutions and come back to the commissioners with a suggestion.

The sheriff also asked commissioners what to do about an unpaid lodging bill of $104 for an inmate from Parker. A second notice has been sent, and the Sheriff’s Office still has not been paid.

Commissioner Mike Page said he would check on the issue and get back with the sheriff.

Walker reported that the county also houses prisoners from Linn Valley and La Cygne at times.

In other business, the commissioners on Monday:
