LINN VALLEY — Linn Valley law-enforcement officers will attend emergency management training for first responders to terroristic attacks in February. The session, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, is in New Mexico, but Police Chief John Burnett said there is no training cost to the city. Linn Valley will provide use of a city credit card to cover car rental, and will be reimbursed for the expenditure. Burnett also told the council the training will be four days and will require one day of travel. All expenses — including airfare, lodging, the car rental and a $39 per diem — are paid by DHS. His plan is to send two groups at different times so there will be continuous coverage for the city. He said the officers will be attending 32 hours of training sessions, and some of those hours will count toward their mandatory 40 hours. The council approved the officers’ attendance.
