From rock-hopping in the asteroid belt to watching a moon-rise on Mars, a number of local residents took a jaunt around our solar system and the Milky Way Galaxy, all without leaving Osawatomie.
Paola USD 368 teacher Susie Atkins led the astrological adventure June 13 with the help of the Digital Planetarium System, which was on loan to her from her former professor at Fort Hays State University. Situated in the gymnasium at Osawatomie Middle School, from the outside the setup appears to be nothing more than a large, inflatable dome no more than 20 feet across. But step inside and you’d better prepare for a ride.
