New features for Wiener Linien tickets from July

Transportation

From July 1, 2022, 7 and 31-day tickets will be available digitally only, and will also be available as convertible paper tickets in future. Passengers can freely choose the period of validity.

Ticketing will be standardised. The new convertible season tickets will replace the existing weekly and monthly tickets, Wiener Linnen said in a statement on Tuesday. In the future, validity periods based on calendar weeks or months will no longer apply.

After the introduction of the 24-hour ticket, the clear preference for this ticket was measured, which is why the 1-day Vienna ticket and the 8-day climate ticket will no longer be issued from 1 July. A 1-day Vienna ticket currently costs 5.80 euros, while a 24-hour ticket costs eight euros.

Transferable season tickets are expensive

As part of the standardization, the prices of 7-day and 31-day tickets will also be revised slightly. A 7-day ticket costs 22.60 euros from July 1. You pay 19.70 euros for the digital, personalized version. A transferable 31-day ticket will cost 58.70 euros in future, while a personalized 31-day ticket will still cost 51 euros.

The price difference between transferable and personalized tickets is explained by the additional possibility of transferring the ticket to other passengers. An annual ticket is still available for €365, while the price for all other tickets (single tickets and 24, 48 and 72-hour season tickets) remains unchanged.
