With 45 different ballots coming to polling places across Miami County for Tuesday’s general election, voters will be charged with the task of voting for myriad commissioners, representatives, senators, school board members and, perhaps most importantly, the president of the United States.

But volunteers at the Miami County Clerk’s Office say that the most challenging decision voters have had to face at the polls is an amendment to the Kansas constitution that would change the way watercraft are taxed and classified across the state. The measure’s length and verbosity have intimidated voters and left them lingering on the page trying to interpret its meaning, county officials said.
